Which force is responsible for the folding of rock strata?

Answer:

Folding refers to the wrinkling of the crust which occurs because of slow lateral compression. When layered flat strata are subjected to compressional forces, they are bent and deformed. Now, it is believed that convergent plate margins worldwide intensely compress rocks.
