Hello suchita,

The force responsible for maintaining a body in uniform circular motion is centripetal force, which is the centre-seeking force. The centripetal force makes the moving body accelerate towards its centre.

For example- you know that if you tie a string to a ball and start rotating it in circles, the ball will be moving in a uniform circular motion. But, if you loosen your hold on string, the ball flies forward. So, it is the attachment of the string to your hand which produces centripetal force.

---FOR FURTHER EXPLANATION ---

You also know that the ball during its circular motion does not come to the centre( the attachment of the hand and the string). This is due to centrifugal force (centre-fleeing force), which generates due to the momentum of the ball.
