Tropical Deciduous Forests are the most wide-spread forests of India.
Characteristics-
These are also called as the monsoon forests.
They are found in the regions receiving rainfall of about 200-70 cm.
Trees of these forests shed leaves for about six to eight weeks in dry summer.
On the basis of availability of water, these forests are of two types- dry deciduous and moist deciduous.Moist deciduous forests are found in areas receiving rainfall between 200 and 100 cm. and they exist in northeastren states- like Jharkhand, Orissa and Chattisgarh. Whereas dry deciduous forest is found in areas having rainfall between 100-70 cm and are found in parts of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
The animals found in these forests are lizards, birds, snakes, tiger, pig , lion etc.
The trees which grow here are teak, neem ,sal, shisham, bamboos, mulberry etc.
