Formalities are followed by the winning party to form the government:

  • The Election commission will submit the results of the elections to the country's President thereafter which he/she will invite the leader of the majority party to form the new government.
  • The majority party will then decide its leader and the leader will then decide the council of ministers.
  • After the election results are out, the President of India asks the leading party to form government.
  • There will be a swearing-in ceremony, the date of which will be fixed by the Prime minister and the whole council will take a pledge on that day.
  • Firstly, the parliamentary and state elections take place. Whichever party wins the highest votes will establish the majority.
  • If a majority isn't established, then the parties will form a coalition.
