I know that 6/7 is the answer because if i convert 6/7 and 7/6 to the same denominator, which would be 42, i know that whatever i do to the numerator i have to do to the denominator too. When i have finished converting my denominator i would get 7/6 = 49/42 and 6/7= 36/42. Because i know that if the numerator and denominator are the same the fraction will add up to one. So,  i look at my fraction and see that 49/42 49 is bigger than 42 so its an improper fraction. And, 36/42 is closer to one because its not bigger than one it is CLOSER to one.
