Following freedoms are usually taken away when a democracy is overthrown by military:

(i)      People have no right of freedom of speech. For example, women of Calama in Chile.

(ii)    People have no right to form associations or trade unions. For example, a case of crane operator and electrician in Poland.

(iii) The people do not have freedom to organise protests and express opinions.

(iv) People have no right to have free elections. For example, a case of Poland before the dawn of democracy.

The life of the people is at the mercy of the ruler. In Chile, about 3,000 people were killed by the military.
