Rolling friction is less than sliding friction.
Rolling friction the point of contact between surfaces is very less as compared to the sliding friction. Also at the point of contact , in the rolling process, the tip of the wheel is stationary instantaneously. So friction is less. There is very little rubbing of the two surfaces, unlike in sliding friction.
