while electoplating the positive gas is always collected at cathode. We can check it by doing electroplating .

hope this helps you .plssss thank me and follow me

Solution:

In the electrolysis of water, hydrogen gas is collected at cathode.

In order to know whether the evolved gas is hydrogen or not, one has to bring burning splinter near it.

If the gas burns with the pop sound, it is hydrogen, if the splinter glows brightly, it is oxygen.
