Give Amazon a try.

When any dilute acid reacts with any carbonate or

bicarbonate carbon dioxide gas is evolved

Na2CO3 + 2HCl——2NaCl +H2O+CO2

How to test the gas evolved—-

Carry out the reaction in a broad test tube Use a rubber stopper with a tube fitted in it

Add the reactants and place the stopper immediately

Allow the gas to pass through limewaterThe limewater

turns milky This indicates that the gas evolved is

Carbon dioxide

CO2 gas evolves and it can be tested by lime water test..... As it turns lime water milky...

Carbon dioxide is evolved. You can test for it using wet pH paper over the evolved gas stream.

When metal carbonate or metal hydrogen carbonate reacts with dilute acids, carbon dioxide (CO₂) gas will evolve.

When Na₂CO₃  reacts with HCl, the products will be NaCl, H₂O, CO₂;

Na_{2} CO_{3} + 2HCl——2NaCl+ H₂O + CO₂

If we allow the gas through lime water, the lime water will turn milky. This proves that the evolved gas is CO₂.
