Which gas is taken by bacterias during respiration ?

Aerobic bacteria take oxygen during respiration and anaerobic bacteria doesn't need any particular gas for respiration.

Oxygen (O₂)  is taken up by the bacteria and release carbon dioxide (CO₂)  during respiration.
