Which gas released when metal carbonate reacts with acid?how can it be confirmed?

reaction between metal carbonated and acid are as follows-

◆MgCO3+H2SO4-->MgSO4+CO2+SO2+H20

to confirm the presence of oxide
pass the gas in lime water so if bubble rises then has is carbon dioxide.

Carbon Dioxide is released when metal carbonate is reacted with acid . It can be confirmed by taking
lime paper (CaO) to turn it's paper milky forming CaCO3 .
