Both of them have same bond angles which is 109°28'.

The structure is Tetrahedral for both and hybridization is sp³ for both of them.

The bond angle of CF_4 and CH_4 is same.

Explanation:

  • To find the bond angle for any compound, its steric number must be identified.
  • Accordingly, the formula used to calculate the steric number is as follows:

S.N = Number of bonded pair of electron + Number of lone pair of electron

  • In the case of CF_4, there are 4 pairs of bonded electrons whereas no lone pair. Thus its steric number is (4+0) 4.
  • On the other hand, in CH_4, there are 4 pairs of bonded electrons whereas no lone pair. Thus its steric number is (4+0) 4.
  • For steric value 4, the bond angle value is 109.5°C. As both CF_4 and CH_4 have the same steric number, they have the same bond angle.
  • Thus it is inferred that both the compounds have the same bond angle.
