Answer: Ice is more effective in cooling than water at the same temperature because ice can absorb latent heat as well as the heat energy in order to attain room temperature. Water at 0 degree Celcius can absorb heat energy only to attain the room temperature.

Answer:- Water has more energy than ice, the difference being the heat of melting of the ice. Similarly water vapour contains the heat of vaporization of water, about 1000 Btus per lb of water. You need to add energy to melt ice and that ends up in the water. You need to add energy to vaporize water to steam and that ends up in the steam. Did you notice you need to put the burner on a pot of tea to boil it?
