radius of sodium is 227 pm, magnesium 220, aluminium 184. so sodium have largest atomic radius

Anonymous: what is pm

You see the size of the atom decreases as we move from left to right in a period.

So observe the 3rd period .From left to right first comes sodium, then magnesium and then aluminum.
So it is clear that sodium has the largest atomic radius among three.
Even you can compare the Van der Waals radius
Sodium --- 227 picometer
Magnesium --- 220 picometer
Aluminum --- 143 picometer

So from here also you can get,
Na > Mg > Al

Anonymous: which is the least reactive among these three
Anonymous: why aluminium is least r?eactive
Anonymous: reactive?

prmkulk1978: Reason: As we move from left to right in a period, the atomic number of element increases which means that number of protons and electrons in the atom increases, the extra electrons being added to the same shell. Due to large positive on the nucleus, the electrons are pulled in more closer to the nucleus and the size of atom decreases .
Anonymous: thanx for ur nice explanation
