Synthetic AUXIN hormone is called WEEDICIDE Hormone.

AUXINS are plant hormone. Some auxin occur naturally in plants and are called the natural auxin while many are synthetic.

Synthetic auxin:
e.g. naphthalene acetic acid (NAA), phenoxy acetic acid (PAA), 2, 4- dichlorophenoxy acetic acid (2, 4-D), 2,4,5- trichlorophenoxy acetic acid (2,4,5-T), naphthalene acetamide (NAAM).

2,4-D and 2, 4,5,-T are used as weedicides.

Auxin is the hormone that is also called as the 'Weedicide Hormone'.

Auxin was the first plant hormone to be discovered. They occur as naturally occurring auxins and synthetic auxins.

2, 4 – D, also called as 2,4, Dichlorophenoxy acetic acid is a synthetic auxin that is used as a weedicide in plants. High concentrations of 2,4 – D is toxic to dicots but the monocots are known to be resistant.

2,4-D increases the metabolic activity and production of ethylene that leads to early senescence and disordered morphogenesis. Thus, 2,4-D is used as a weedicide, usually in combination with 2,4,5-T.
