Which imagery in the poem 'keeping quiet' creates awareness of exploitation?
Answers
In The poem 'Keeping Quiet' Pablo Neruda highlights various problems ailing mankind. One of the problems is exploitation; man in his recklessness has been exploiting nature as well as himself. Two glaring examples of this exploitation mentioned in the poem are: Fishermen in the cold sea would not harm whales and the man gathering salt would not look at his hurt hands .
Man has been over exploiting nature and natural resources; trees, wild animals, minerals, etc. have been overexploited; man is also exploiting those working under him. For example, workers are exploited so much in certain countries that they even have to work in spite of being sick. For example, salt workers have to work in spite of injured hands.
