salt is the basic requirement for every people.the British govt.had a monopoly on salt production and passed a law,banning manufacturing of salt by Indians .....

so on march 12,1930,mahatma Gandhi began his epic dandi march from sabarmati to dandi........they made salt from sea and broke the law.salt satyagrah was an open challange to the British and civil disobedience spread all over the country....
