Throughout the late 18th and 19th century Calcutta was divided into White town and Black town. Which was primarily British and Chowringhee and Lord Dalhousie square and Black town mainly in North Calcutta (Now Kolkata). Degrees of segregation between black and white inhabitants varied according to the boundaries were drawn between Indian and British Investors. Thus the White towns were colonial cities where British people Lived but In the Black town Indians were lived.
