Pandyan of Dramira sent an ambassador to the Roman Emperor Augustus.

The records of Strabo mention that the Roman king received an ambassador from a South Indian king at Antioch. Ptolemy described Pandi Mandala the country of the Pandyas as Pandyan Mediterranea in the Periplus and Modura Regia Pandyan. The Roman traders carried on trade with the Tamil states of the Pandyan, Chola and Chera dynasties.
