Anemometer is and instrument used to measure velocity of wind and is also a common station instrument . Leon Battista Alberti was the person who invented this instrument in the year 1450. Derek Weston added the ability to detect wind direction in the year 1991. The term Anemometer comes from a Greek word anemos which means wind. There ar many types of velocity anemometers which are cup anemometer , vane anemometer etc.
