Periodic motion, in physics, motion repeated in equal intervals of time. Periodic motion is performed, for example, by a rocking chair, a bouncing ball, a vibrating tuning fork, a swing in motion, the Earth in its orbit around the Sun, and a water wave.

- When Earth is getting orbited around the sun, we say it's in the periodic motion.
- Similarly, when a ball is string to a metal ball, it performs oscillations in a to-and-fro motion. This is also said to be in a periodic motion.
- Period motion is that motion which repeats it's after a fixed period of time.
- A non-periodic motion is that motion that repeats itself but not in a fixed period of time.
- If a pendulum of infinite length makes the periodic motion, then it's time period would be equal to the earth's radius, that means 84.6 minutes.
- If we allow a lift to fall from a height under the influence of gravitational force, then the time period of pendulum clock would be considered as infinity.
