Diploma after 10th standard will always be a safer option. You will understand basic concepts in a better way during diploma. Especially if you are not in first 5% students then better to opt for Diploma and then go for degree for better job opportunities.

Some of the answers here mentioned poor mathematical skills of diploma students. In Maharashtra quality of Diploma curriculum is very good as compared to any other states of India and I have seen many diploma graduates scoring 100 out of 100 in Mathematics during their degree engineering.
