The Rose apple, also known as “Jambu” or the “Indian Blackberry” is a famous fruit, which is native to South-East Asian countries. It tastes like a cross of watermelon and apple with a mild rose like scent.

The Rose Apple tree or the Jambu tree was known as the “Enlightenment tree” and was known to be sacred to Buddhism.

According to Puranic Hindu cosmology, the Jambudvipa (island of the rose apple) or the Indian Blackberry island, was also known as the Sudarshanadvipa, which forms the innermost concentric island.

The Jambudvipa refers to one of the 4 continents situated on the south of Mount Meru (also called Mount Sumeru), located at the northwest of Kashmir, India.

According to Surya Siddhanta, the Northen hemisphere of Earth, which Includes India is known as the Jambudvipa.
