Which is correct 'there is chaos and confusion' or 'there are chaos and confusion'?

merlinjoy: That's what I also think. However my teacher has written is after striking it. I don't understand why she did so. pls explain

Generally ,both words are little same.But the sentence will be There is Chaos and Confusion.

lyra85: both are little same but not exactly because chaos means confusion in fear and confusion means confusion in any condition
