Step-by-step explanation:

Given :-

-4/5 × ( 1 /4 +3/-7)

-4/5 + ( 1/4 ×3/-7)

and (-4/5 + 1/4 ) × 3/-7

To find:-

Which is greatest?

Solution:-

Given numbers are

I) -4/5 × ( 1 /4 +3/-7)

LCM of 4 and 7 = 28

=> -4/5 × [(1×7)+(-3×4)]/28

=> -4/5 ×(7-12)/28

=> -4/5 × (-5/28)

=> (-4×-5)/(5×28)

=>20/140

-4/5 × ( 1 /4 +3/-7) = 20/140 ---------------(1)

ii) (-4/5)+ ( 1/4 ×3/-7)

=> (-4/5) + (3/-28)

=> (-4/5) + ( -3/28)

LCM of 5 and 28 is 140

=>[(28×-4)+(-3×5)]/140

=> [(-112)+(-15)]/140

=> (-112-15)/140

=> -127/140

(-4/5)+ ( 1/4 ×3/-7) = -127/140 --------------(2)

iii) (-4/5 + 1/4 ) × (3/-7)

LCM of 5 and 4 = 20

=>[ [(-4×4)+(1×5)]/20]×(3/-7)

=>[ (-16+5)/20] × (3/-7)

=> (-11/20)×(3/-7)

=> (-11×3)/(20×-7)

=> -33/-140

=> 33/140

(-4/5 + 1/4 ) × (3/-7) = 33/140 -------------(3)

From (1),(2)&(3)

We notice that

127/140 < 20/140 < 33/140

33 / 140 is greatest number

Answer:-

(-4/5 + 1/4 ) × (3/-7) is the greatest number.
