In a tweet today, railway minister Piyush Goyal, announced that Train 18 is now the fastest train in India. India's first indigenously built engine-less train, meant for intra-day travel, can cut down travel time by 10 to 15 per cent compared to the Shatabdi.

Train 18. Train 18 is an Indian semi-high speed intercity electric multiple unit. It was designed and built by Integral Coach Factory (ICF) Chennai under the Indian government's Make in India initiative over a span of 18 months.
