Answer: Some of its isoelectronic species are S2– ion (16 + 2 = 18 electrons), Cl– ion (17 + 1 = 18 electrons), K+ ion (19 – 1 = 18 electrons), and Ca2+ ion (20 – 2 = 18 electrons)....

The isoelectronic species which Cl^- ion is Ar or K^+.

  • The species which have the same number of electrons are called isoelectronic species.
  • The total number of electrons in Cl^- is 17+1=18.
  • Hence Ar which has 18 electrons will be isoelectronic with Cl^-.
  • Again if K removes its one electron then it will be converted to K^+ and it has 18 electrons and remains isoelectronic with Cl^-.
