Shells in the orbits decrease in no.so positive charge is more as compared to negative charge hence the electrons will get attracted towards the nucleus and it's size will decrease....whereas in the case of cl-
The no. Of Electrons are more as compared to no. Of protons hence the electrons will repel each other and nucleus will not be able to attract the electrons toward itself so it's size will increase
