According to Aristotle, tragedy is defined as 'mimesis' translated as "Imitation of the action," and that this actions must be necessary and must be complete and have serious implications.
According to Aristotle's argument, the primary principle of tragedy is a plot which shows how the author presents elements and arranges incidents in the plot.
Further, Aristotle elaborates upon the nature of a plot that is must have beginning causing a chain of events and the middle which includes high point of action and finally the end which gives a resolution. Aristotle stated that there should be no disturbance in linear development.
Hence, according to Aristotle characters are of a secondary nature.
