Nectar

Nectar is not a bee product

Nectar isn't made by bees. Nectar is a sugary liquid produced by plants that is used by honey bees to make honey. Because nectar is the sugar supply for honey, it is a valuable commodity. Because the adult stages of several predatory insects eat on nectar, it's also valuable in agriculture and horticulture. For example, nectar is the primary food supply for a variety of parasitoid wasps (such as the social wasp Apoica flavissima). These wasps then go on a hunt for agricultural nuisance insects to feed their offspring.
