Cellular respiration, the process by which organisms combine oxygen with foodstuff molecules, diverting the chemical energy in these substances into life-sustaining activities and discarding, as waste products, carbon dioxide and water.
The process through which sugar converts into Glucose to produce Energy is termed as Cellular Respiration.
Cellular Respiration are of two types:-
Aerobic Respiration - These respiration are considered to be extremely efficient for the living beings as it ensures constant supply of Oxygen in the Cell.
Anaerobic Respiration - Under this, the cells will break downn the sugar into energy particularly in the absence of Oxygen.
The function of Cellular Respiration are :-
- It breaks down the sugar into the form of energy which is required for the living organisms.
- The secretion of Adenosine Tri phosphate (ATP), is the main product of this cellular respiration and it is the source of energy in the Mitochondrian part of the cell.
- It is required to have cellular respiration in order to the cell to function and transport energy from one part of the cell to other.
