Which is smaller among the fractions 1/6 and 1/9?

Answer: You can compare the two by different methods:-

First, By taking lcm  

lcm of 6 and 9 is 54

so, 1/6 becomes 9/54 and 1/9 becomes 6/54

we can clearly say 9/54 > 6/54

==> 1/9 is smaller fraction.

[Its common fact if numerator is same then the greater denominator number is the smaller fraction]

Second, By finding decimals

1/6 on dividing gives 0.167 (approx.)

1/9 on dividing gives 0.111  

Clearly, we can say that 1/9 is smaller fraction.
