The base shape of the normal prism is always a non-square rectangle.

The normal prism is actually a three dimensional geometrical shape which have 5 sides.Among those 5 sides the 3 sides are non-square rectangle (including the base of the prism) and the rest 2 sides are triangle.

This type of prism (glass made) is also used for demonstration of the diffraction of the white light.

Answer:

Base shape of a prism…

Step-by-step explanation:

Your question says base shape of this prism? But as far as I can see, no figures have been attached with your question!

Just keep in mind that no matter what shape prism we are talking about, its base shape can never be a triangle. In other words each of the prism that you see in mathematics is primarily named as per its base shape,

If the prism has a minimum of four edges in the base, then it is named as a rectangular prism. The sides of such prism can be triangle in two sides but other two sides would be a rectangle. The sides that usually meet at the vertex are triangle shaped.

Then comes a pyramid, which has four sides, where all four sides are triangle in shape.

But even this type of prism has a base of four sided rectangular. So for a prism, no matter what shape the side is, its base is always having four sides (rectangle).
