In india most petroleum retailers are goverment owned example bharat petroleum(bp), hp, indian oil
Bp used to be private but government bought about 50 to 55 percent shares making them owers of companies
Hp is state owned company with mumbai as its head quaters
Indian oil is also state owned comapny
There are also other companies ONGC, GAIL, OIL INDIA, NTPC
But in private sector there are companies like reliance, essar, total, shell in indian market
But reliance petrol has major market in private petroleum companies
