there are 2 types of nerve impulse
first is chemical nerve impulses where chemicals like ach. on stimulation by Ca^+2 leaves from pre - synaptic cleft to a gap named synaptic cleft and finally into post synaptic cleft.but this process is slow
second is electrical nerve impulses where there is no gap present and the nerve impulses travels from pre to post synaptic cleft.This is the fastest nerve impulse
