In the process of digestion, first of all when we eat food, it mixes with a enzyme present in our mouth called saliva. It can be said that mixing of food with saliva is the first step of digestion. Saliva makes the food soft and easy to chew and swallow.

Process of digestion:-

⤏After the food mixes with saliva, it passes through food pipe. Then it reaches stomach. Lining of stomach wall contains gastric juices. These glands secrete gastric juice, hydrochloric acid (HCl) and mucus.

⤏Then the food reaches small intestine. In small intestine there are digestive juices present which brings about complete digestion of fats, carbohydrates and proteins.

⤏At the end the it left over reaches the large intestine. Large intestine converts the undigested food into solid waste called stool. This process of removal of waste is called egestion.
