Answer:

B) Rumen is the largest chamber in the stomach of ruminant.

Explanation:

The stomach of a ruminant animal is consisting of four compartments. The food enters first through rumen, then reticulum, omasum and abomasum in the end before entering into the duodenum. The stomach of ruminant is very complex and vast structure with ability to hold up to 60 liters. The rumen alone contributes 80% portion of a stomach in adult animals. Rumen and reticulum together are called as reticulorumen. The complex carbohydrates are digested through fermentation in first three compartment with the help of microorganisms. This digestion is called foregut digestion which creates lots of volatile fatty acids, used as the main energy source in the ruminant animals. This digestion requires fermented food material to be regurgitated and chewed again. The re-chewing process is used for breaking down the carbohydrates to stimulate the digestion process inside the stomach.
