For some reason, everyone here seems to be focusing on the length and not the volume. Well, there is a difference between ‘longest’ and ‘largest’.

In terms of length, Ganga is the longest river (within India). But when considering discharge (water flow), Brahmaputra is the LARGEST. The average discharge of the Brahmaputra is 19800 m³/sec. The Ganga, 16,648 m³/sec.

That's exactly why it's called the mighty Brahmaputra !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
