97% of the water on the Earth is salt water and only three percent is freshwater; slightly over two thirds of this is frozen in glaciers and polar ice caps. The remaining unfrozen freshwater is found mainly as groundwater, with only a small fraction present above ground or in the air.

The largest source of water on earth:

Explanation:

  • The oceans, which are the world's largest supply of surface water, account for nearly all of the planet's surface water.
  • A huge body of water that separates continents is known as an ocean. Oceans are vast bodies of water that connect smaller oceans. Oceans (also known as marine biomes) cover 72 percent of the Earth's surface. The Pacific Ocean, and the main point Atlantic Ocean, the Indian Ocean, also  the Southern Ocean, and the Arctic Ocean these all are the five major oceans.
  • An ocean is a continuous body of salt water confined within a massive basin on the surface of the Earth. With an average depth of 3,688 metres, the major oceans and their peripheral seas encompass about 71% of the Earth's surface (12,100 feet).
