Alluvial soil is the most prolific, broadly spread and important soil in India.

Characteristics :-

1. Alluvial soil is riverine soil moved and kept by streams.

2. Alluvial soil comprises of different extent of sand, residue and mud.

3. Alluvial soils are agronomically generally profitable and thickly populated.

4. They for the most part contain sufficient extent of potash, phosphoric corrosive and lime.

5. Alluvial soil is partitioned into new alluvium or khadar, which is fine, sandy and rich and more established alluvium or bangar which is clayey dim in shading, contains kankar noudules and is less ripe.
