The only state from which two chief ministers have gone on to become prime minister of India is Uttar Pradesh. The state has given 14 Prime ministers to India till now. The two chief ministers who have gone on to become prime minister of India includes Charan Singh, 1967-1968 and V. P. Singh December 1989-November 1990.
