The cities of Harappa were ‘very well planned’. The western side of the city was seen to be smaller and higher. The higher part contained structures which was referred to as the citadel.  

There was a big tank inside the citadel, which was called the Great Bath. It was made of baked bricks and there were steps on all sides for people to go down. The ‘eastern part’ of the city was lower and was referred to as the lower city.
