Prime numbers are numbers that can be divided only by the number 1 and by itself.
Eg:  2 can be divided by 2 and 1 and not by any other number.so it is a prime number.
But incase of 6 it can divided by 2,6 and 1 and so it it not a prime number but is it called as composite number.

Prime Number can be divided only by itself.it must be a whole number > 1 for Example: 5 can only be divided by 1 or 5, so it is a prime number. But 6 can be divided evenly by 1, 2, 3 and 6 so it is not   a prime number (it is a composite number).
