The right condition for the growth of maize is needed a moderate temperature, it would be 18°C and 27°C during the day and around 14°C during the evening.  It needs well-drained fertile soil and a frost free weather because this crop is very susceptible to frost. Therefore the right option will   be :-

(a)  Temperature between 21 °C to 27°C and old alluvial soil.

Favourable conditions for the growth of maize crop are-

  • Old alluvium soil which is deep and well-drained is ideal for the growth of maize plants. However, it can be grown in other types of soils also such as sandy loam and clayey loam.
  • The maize crop can be easily grown in areas where moderate temperature occurs i.e. from 21 °C to 27°C.
  • The growth of maize requires a moderate rainfall from 70cm to 110cm annually.
