The smallest even prime number is 2. In fact, 2 is the only even prime number. All the other prime numbers are odd numbers and all the remaining even numbers are composite numbers.

A prime number can be divided, without a remainder, only by itself and by 1. And it must be a whole number greater than 1.
Example :
13 is a prime number and it can be divided only by 13 and 1.
