Answer

The smallest number is 6845

Explanation

The three numbers are 18,19,20

The smallest number which when divided by 18,19,20 leaves exactly 5 as remainder in each case

To find this we have to find the LCM of three numbers

To find LCM

LCM(18,19,20 ) = 6840

To find the smallest number

When we add 5 to the LCM we get the answer

The number is 6840 + 5 = 6845

6845/ 18 gives Quotient=380  Remainder=5

6845/ 19 gives Quotient=360  Remainder=5

6845/ 20 gives Quotient=342  Remainder=5

The Lowest Common Multiple(LCM) of 18,19,20 .

   It will be 2 x 2 x 3 x 3 x 19 x 5 = 3420

So if we add 5 to that number the we will get a number which leaves a remainder of 5 when divided with these three numbers.

hence 3420 + 5 = 3425
