Which is the terminal functional group out of aldehydes and ketones .shouldn't it be ketone as CH3 lies in the end of the carbon chain ?

It is aldehyde. Ketone group is C=O where both the groups attached to ketone group should be only alkyl....

In aldehyde, the formula is RCHO where CHO is the group and the alkyl is R.
