‘Next' is an adjective which means coming after the one that just came or happened.

Next can not be categorized as a particualr kind of adjective, because it is also used as pronoun and adverb.

We can simply use it as=> coming after this one;

Example => I will go to Dehradun on Sunday next.

Here “next" is adjective.

●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●

Hope it was helpful.

SIRCAR: is next an adjective of number
SidVK: I don't think so, because next doesnot express a number. I am not sure, but it is not an adjective of number, according to me.
SIRCAR: i think its a demonstrative adjective....as it answers the question 'which'.....
SidVK: Yaa..among the seven kinds of adjective, Demonstrative Adjective looks more suitable than any other kind. So, it can be categorized in Demonstrative Adjectives. You have delivered a Good Logic!! Impressive..
SIRCAR: thanks for admiring me
SidVK: Your opinion was good, so you deserve admiration.
SIRCAR: can u please solve my other question s
SidVK: Yaa..sure.

In this question, we are asked to tell which kind of adjective is next.

  • The adjective "next" denotes that something will happen or come following something that has just happened.
  • Because it is also employed as a pronoun and an adverb, the word next cannot be classified as a specific type of adjective.
  • We can just say it like this: coming after this; for instance, I'll go to Dehradun the next Sunday.
