Examples of Vanity metrics are measures of Blog post viewership, Twitter followers, Facebook fans etc.

Vanity metrics are Key Performance Indicators (KPI), which are measured by an organisation and included in its performance reviews and reports, but which really does not help the company in achieving its business goals. They are ‘good to see on paper’ but do not help in business growth or business success.

Another aspect of Vanity metrics is that they can be easily changed and there is no actual way of confirming the numbers.

The vanity metrics are the objects you can count which never matter.

Also, they are manipulated or changed easily as well as they never bear any direct correlation with the numbers which speak to the business success.

Many people utilize these vanity metrics as they fail to know that they never count.
