It is located in the Summer palace (imperial garden) in Beijing,China . It is a man made lake (artificial lake). This lake is designed in the traditional Chinese gardening practice of one pond three hills. They represent 3 islands. The islands are "South Lake Island" , "Round Fort Island", and "Algae-view Hall Island".
The 17-Arch Bridge is the largest bridge on Kunming Lake.

This lake is located in the summer palace of he Qing dynasty which is spread across an area of 2.9 square kilometres out of which the central Kunming lake covers 2.2 square kilometres. This is an entirely man made lake which covers 540 acres.
